We have an abundance of sweet peas.
How I love that word a-bun-dance I think of iced buns dancing! and sweet pea a name my mum used to call me. An abundance of sweet peas…delightful!
When I came downstairs this morning my kitchen was filled with the sweet scent of Sweet Peas. This is probably the 5th day in a row I have had fresh, scented pretty Sweet Peas on my kitchen table. My husband believes this will continue throughout the summer. days and days of glorious new flowers. .He also wants to grow in our nursery some Chris Bowers fruit trees & bushes so that we have the biggest and largest collection of selected fruit trees and bushes in our garden.
It doesn’t feel five minutes ago that I built the bamboo frame for them and how suddenly they have shot up and flourished ( they remind me of my children.)
How did nature make something with shades of purple and lilac so perfect no artist could have been so eloquent.
For the price of a few sweet peas I will have an abundance of blooms to enchant my days. How perfect for a thrifty home.
Oh mother nature you astound me every day. I am so thankful for these Sweet Peas.
So very pretty Becky. Sweet peas are flowers that remind me of my childhood, my parents growing them in the garden and my mum bringing them inside and proudly putting them in a vase on the windowsill. I always used to think they looked nice but it’s only now I understand that satisfaction of growing something and bringing it in to enjoy. Grandads one aren’t open yet but when they are I’ll be there like a tramp on chips!

i never realized that sweet peas had such pretty delicate flowers. i may have to plant some in the future…

Absolutely gorgeous. I love sweet peas. So delicate and the most wonderful colours. Wished I had grown some instead of planting cosmos as the slugs have chomped them all up! X
They really are beautiful flowers you are right, beautiful colours and smells.
I too love sweet peas – they just remind me of childhood and simpler times. When we moved in to this house, that first summer there were new flowers every single day and it was the only flowers in the garden. Now, we’ve sorted out the rest of the garden, but lost our sweet peas. Every year I plant seeds, but end up being disappointed. No idea why. Must sort it out next year though. Must!
I love sweet peas, and yours look gorgeous. I just arranged some in a tea cup for our bedroom so I’m hoping the scent will be there when I head off to bed!

So lovely – sweet peas are one of my favourites; I do love a plant that keeps producing more flowers as you pick. And the fragrance is glorious. I too call my children ‘sweet pea’, it’s one of my favourite pet names for them 🙂
