My (Thrifty) Desk Makeover

I work in a tiny corner of my kitchen all day every day.

It is not a particularly inspiring place.

It isn’t even really a desk, just a little old MDF table. I face a wall too. Sigh.  I try and write wonderful things about living creatively on a budget. Sitting somewhere so drab and untidy does not fill me with inspiration however.

Here’s how it looked last week …

Yep it was dark, dull, messy, uninspiring and cluttered. Not conducive to writing my brilliant bestseller.

Well then I spied a great competition over at Love Chic Living for a desk makeover (with an amazing prize of £500 Made.com vouchers up for grabs.)  Ooh all I needed was a little inspiration and there I was tidying that desk up quicker than I ate my Easter eggs.

What was I after?

I wanted the area to be pretty, uncluttered, fresh and motivational.

I had no spare cash for the makeover so I grabbed some lilac from the garden. I had a big old tidy up and transferred everything on my noticeboard into my diary. I moved wires , sorted my book case and popped up some photos of the kids that had been hanging around doing nothing.

I simply purchased an office sign for about £7 and that was all I spent.

I now feel I have a lovely, inspiring, pretty, fragrant office. And all it took was a little prompt and a little effort.

Are you ready to see it….

To say I am delighted with it is an understatement. It smells gorgeous, I love looking at my children  and seeing them motivates me to get my work done before schools out each day. I feel so much more organized and calm.

A little makeover goes a long way.

Sometimes, the smallest of changes can make a big difference! Nothing more thrifty then picking your own flowers from your own garden, and what’s more is they look beautiful!

    Good luck lovely xx
