The Simple Things

I do like the simple things in life.

Lilac cut from the garden filling my home with the most gorgeous scent

A good cup of coffee full of flavour.

Time to read and be inspired.

I want to introduce you to something rather lovely

The Simple Things is a wonderful magazine for people who appreciate the simple pleasures of life.

Great Grandma (age 93) is very wise about  the pleasure of simple things and was delighted to buy me a subscription to this magazine for my birthday last year. I so look forward to receiving it each month.

It was recommended to me by a very sweet and unassuming man who in his quiet, simple way seemed extremely happy. Wanting to capture some of that happy,  unstriving serenity for myself I followed his recommendation.

Each month there are tips, thoughts and ideas around cooking, relaxing, gardening, upcycling and valuing  the simple things in life. For those of us wishing to keep a thrifty home it is a wonderful read.

This month’s edition looks at mindfulness and the power of pets to help us relax. There is a competition to win a week in a VW camper van. There is an article on growing your own smoothies  How to make your own yogurt. A gorgeous post on edible flowers (I’m really inspired to make flower ice cubes) and some lovely simple but effective photography tips.

Will Taylor of the gorgeous Bright Bazaar blog  is talking interiors and colour  (he is so inspiring!) and he has a lovely blog of his own.

My favorite article this month though is on how to decorate with fruit and veg with a nod to Constance Fry queen of informal floristy.

I love the idea of a charity shop teapot planted up with strawberries.

A wonderful magazine.

Have a look at the website The Simple Things for how to subscribe and lots of extra lovely ideas.

This looks like a wonderful magazine, I’ve not seen it! I tend to read the free weekend magazines from the papers, but might just pick this one up. x

Sounds like a great read. I started collecting charity shop floral teapots as table decorations for my wedding and now have quite a stash. I hadn’t thought of planting in them but what a great idea. May plant some basil on the windowsill in one. Thanks for the tip.
