A Frugal Kitchen

My word of the week this week is FRUGAL

I have taken a good stock of my fridge and my tin cupboard and my freezer and drawn up a meal plan. We WILL stop wasting food, having to throw it away because it is past it’s sell by date or because it is no longer fresh.

So here is my plan for the week. Apart form salad and a little fresh fruit bread for lunches and milk I should not have to buy anything this week and I should be able to use up all this food. Despite good intentions I never normally meal plan so this will be interesting.

We are normally pretty spontaneous about what we eat.

Saturday             Baked potatoes with cheese and onion & salad  ~ Yogurts

frittata pan

Sunday               Frittata  and stuffed peppers ~ Fresh fruit

Monday               Quorn Sausages, mash and beans ~ Icecream

Tuesday              Vegetable pasta bake & salad ~ Fruit Skewers with dipping yoghurt

fruit skewers

Wednesday         Tagliatelle with peas, veggie bacon and white cheese sauce ~ Trifle

Thursday           Vegetable Fajitas  & tomato soup ~ Bananas and custard

tortilla wraps, frugal kitchen

Friday       Eggs chips and spaghetti hoops (well it is Friday and they do need eating up) ~Home made gingerbread

I’ll let you know how we get on with our frugal food this week as we work towards having a thriftier home.

Kitchen plans!

We have been really working on making our food better and also making our Kitchen just so much better too. I have taken out all the clutter so the surfaces look clean and spacious. I have a plan to change the handles on all the drawers and giving them a lick of paint. I want to change the faucets too so I  having been having a gander at kitchenfaucets.reviews to try and make sure I get good quality and value for money! Watch this space..our transformation is coming soon.

My great friend Cass Bailey has a blog all about meal planning if you want more tips.

I meal plan every week and have found that I waste less food and I find it so much easier knowing what to cook. Good luck 🙂 x #WotW

Hatrdest thing about my life at the moment is meal planning. We don’t eat at the dining table before and I started with a home law that we are going to eat and use the table but meal planning is SO hard!

    Not giving up yet.
