Change your clothes

One way to make your transition from being at work to being at home is to change your outfit. This will subconsciously signal to your body that you no longer need to be thinking or worrying about anything that might be going on at work and that this time is for you.

 

Take a bath or shower

It is always a great idea to have a bath or shower as it will make you feel clean and refreshed. A bath gives you time to sit still and relax, put on some music to feel the worry and pressures of the day melt away. If you prefer showers then stand under the water and let it wash over you and have time to let positive thoughts replace those of your work.

 

Lie down with a weighted blanket or eye pillow

After a particularly busy day, you may want to go for a nap or simply take time to lie down. Weighted blankets are becoming increasingly popular as they make your body feel comforted and supported much like a newborn baby being held by its mother. Or if you would prefer to lie down on the sofa then an eye pillow will help to block out the light and allow your body to relax into darkness. So have a shot at self-massage to learn some excellent self-massage techniques to cover your whole body. You can do these for as long as you want and wherever it is comfortable.

 

Put on headphones and listen to relaxing sounds

Listening to relaxing sounds or music is something that you can do alone or with all of the above. By focussing on listening to the sounds you are allowing your mind to move away from the busyness of your day and resting somewhere less hectic and calmer. This will greatly enhance your ability to relax and enjoy the rest of your day or evening.

 

Whatever you choose to do make sure you take the time for you and your body will thank you for it. You should also always make sure you get a good nights sleep.
