The Ladybird Book of Garden Flowers – gorgeous!
Oh how delighted was I to find The Ladybird Book of Garden Flowers. Sometimes when I wander round charity shops I find little treasures they just whisper to me to take them home.
Books always whisper the loudest, particularly books that we re [art of my childhood.
How I love to see them again . It’s like find an old friend,
My latest find was this The ladybird book of garden flowers
Isn’t it just gorgeous.
It is from series 536 and it cost 2’6.
It depicts flowers from the gardens and parks of England and it is filled with quintessentially English paintings all painted by John Leigh-Pemberton,
All the way through it describes the plants from the paintings and gives a few gardening hints along the way.
How delightful. How very England, 1960.
Oh ladybird books just take you right back don’t they. I always feel a little smile coming on when I see one. The illustrations are always so good.
Over at Being Mrs C my pal Penny shares loads of ladybird book finds so do hop over if you are a fan.
It cost me a very fair 99p. I love it’s charm and the memories it evokes of my Grandads garden and the books of my childhood.
