How to improve the vibe in your Kitchen
A kitchen is probably front and centre of most houses and if it is big enough you will normally find that people gather together in this area. Even if you have friends round, the common place to chat is the kitchen (not the living area). As such, it is important to people that they get the vibe and energy in this room good in order to make it an area where people enjoy going to. Without embarking on some massive costly projects, there are simple things that you can do to make a difference. We have given some of these suggestions below.
Flooring
Flooring in any household gives off an immediate vibe no matter what room it is in. Normally people go for carpets in maybe bedrooms and living areas but tiling or laminate flooring in bathrooms and kitchens. The laminate floors or tiles in a kitchen would last for quite a number of years you would expect. If they are of good quality normally you don’t need to worry about them too much if you continue to maintain them. If you do go for a bit of a change though in respect to the flooring, you can expect there to be a bit of a mess. Ripping up flooring and laminates will reveal the woodwork underneath and not be a friendly sight. In order to then floor again with new tiles or flooring, it could be a bit of a struggle especially if cutting is required. If you do not have the correct tools or even experience in this type of task, it wouldn’t be a good idea for you to even start it – you should consult the experts and get someone to come and do this for a good rate. That way you can sit back and let someone else do the hard work and be rest assured it is likely to be completed to a better quality standard.
Worktops
The worktops in a kitchen are something that you would think are hard to replace. The replacement of them is not generally the issue but more the pricing. Believe it or not, the worktops prices could cost more than everything else that you have in the kitchen therefore shopping around would be a wise thing to do to make sure that you get a good deal. You will find many stylish laminate worktops at reasonable rates at many retailers that are pretty easy to fit. Getting rid of the worktops you have (for replacement) may be a bit of a struggle if you do not have a van as you may need to contact the council to retrieve these so ensure that you have this in your mind. Alternatively, if you are using a company to fit these on your behalf then you could maybe strike a deal with them to take everything with them.
Appliances
When you look at kitchen appliances online, you will come across all sorts of different gadgets and things. Every month there is a new gadget on the market. Some people just look to have the latest and greatest “toys” in their homes which can include things like modern fridges that give you ice or overpriced juice makers! Unless you have a massive kitchen, there won’t be room for all of these gadgets. It can help improve the vibe in the kitchen, specifically if there is colours linked to these things. Don’t go and overspend on these sort of things as its unlikely that you will use on a regular basis a doughnut making machine or similar and will typically be a one off purchase to be flung away in a kitchen drawer!
Décor
People have lots of different opinions as to what constitutes good décor in a kitchen and this could be from absolutely nothing on walls to having lots of pictures and wallpaper. There is no right or wrong answer to this and it is all down to individual taste. Generally you will find that most kitchens do not have wallpaper up and that these are plain walls. If this is your tact then maybe have a think about the colours of the walls. Would it improve the vibe if you just slightly changed the colour of the walls via a lick of paint? If you do go ahead with this, then just bear in mind the mess painting makes and how bad it looks if not completed properly – maybe get a painter or decorator in? Some pictures in the kitchen won’t go a miss – these do not have to be expensive art prices but some homely pictures that add a bit of colour could be a consideration.
