Pick of the week: Eco bird feeder

The best design ideas are often the most simple and not always the most expensive.

Recently I was in my little local Oxfam shop and spotted a garden range  of eco products. Fathers day was looming so I snapped up some butterfly friendly flower seeds and a bird feeder without much thought or really looking. When i got home I realised  firstly how little I had paid and secondly what great little products they were.

The bird feeder from ashortwalk was my stand out favourite. At just £4.95 it is a complete bargain. It looks so pretty hanging in our garden and you simply loop it on to a tree and push the metal bar through your piece of food. That is it. Simple.

I love attracting birds to our garden and not wasting food so this really is a win win This eco bird feeder is way of recycling unwanted food for the birds in your area.

It is actually made from recycled plant pots, collected through the makers UK-wide pot to product scheme. It also helpfully comes with ideas on the right food to use (hey birds don’t want your mouldy leftovers!)

I love it, smart, simple and encourages nature and recycling. A design triumph!

I will be buying everyone one of these for their birthday’s this year!

Ashortwalk is a product design company based near Truro, Cornwall. It began life in a garden shed by Dan who wanted to live, ‘ashortwalk’ from the sea. It sells wonderful eco products …do take a look. And always, always check out your local Oxfam for some wonderland eco, fairtrade and pre-loved finds.
