Today – thrifty tips for a beautiful home
I have always maintained you don’ t need to do anything elaborate to have a lovely home and you don’t have to spend a small fortune either
Here are 6 simple and straightforward thrifty tips for a beautiful home that will work in EVERY home.
Thrifty tips for a beautiful home
Make your home smell lovely by filling it with fresh air and home grown lavender and sweet peas. Fling open those windows and start growing your flowers, even a tub will do! A simple and inexpensive vanilla scented candle always works wonders too.
Let the light in. A well lit home really does make it look so much more lovely. So try placing big mirrors opposite windows, make sure your windows are clean and smear free windows and have simple window dressings that don’t detract from the outside light.
Clutter free homes look so much better and clean homes look better. Having a good old clean and declutter cost only your time and energy. I think having enough space in your home is really crucial to keeping it clutter free and oh I would just love the loft conversions by Tailored Lofts. Having our loft converted would create a lovely extra space for us and really open up our home and it is often a much cheaper option than moving.
I think cohesiveness really helps in a home and I love to see wooden flooring through a home. So beautiful and so hygienic. It may feel extravagant to buy Solid Wood Flooring in London but actually it’s a really good investment. These floors can last decades and won’t need replacing anywhere near as much as carpets. Plus they have a beauty all of their own.

Keep it looking good
There is a lot to be said for the phrase: “Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful” It makes sense and it makes for a beautiful home.
Keep your home in good repairs. Keep paint fresh, fill cracks in the wall, throw out or repair broken items, varnish wooden outdoor furniture and clean your grouting. Staying on top of your home means it will look its very best and you can be really proud of it. Letting things remain unfixed or undone will start to make it look shabby and unloved.

Great thrifty tips! I do have to comment on the scented candle though. Stick to the fresh air and flowers from the garden as scented candles fill your home with neurotoxic petrochemicals and can put friends with allergies or asthma in immediate danger.
Good point x
I absolutely love sweet peas. They remind me of my dad as he always grew them in the summer. Not seen them in ages. Love the shutters too!
