Meet the Frugalwoods, published by Harper Collins is the story of about the journey to their frugal life in the woods. It is such an inspiring story of intentional frugality with the clear aim of financial freedom.
The deeply personal story of how award-winning personal finance blogger Elizabeth Willard Thames abandoned a successful career in the city and embraced frugality to create a more meaningful, purpose-driven life, and retire to a homestead in the Vermont woods at age thirty-two with her husband and daughter.
I enjoyed reading Elizabeth’s account of how they saved and planned and plotted their way to achieving the life they truly wanted. She is really honest about her privilege, aware of her blessings and doesn’t shirk talking about the tough times. It is easy and entertaining read and it makes you think. It does really make you think. My thoughts ranged from hmmm I could give that up too to gosh yes we do get trapped in consumerism and oh I should save more!
I think this is a great book for fans of thriftiness to read particularly those of us wanting more freedom in how we live our lives. Elizbeth owns that this is a very personal journey but I do think we can all take something from it.
